Equipment Setup

Only two weeks until Halloween and, for those of you who have been following along with my journey, you know how I’m always excited to find new ways to improve my products and designs and this new setup opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities here at Funny Duck and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Check it out!

One of the most exciting aspects of working with the UV printer is how stunningly detailed and vibrant the artwork comes out. Unlike traditional printing methods, UV printing uses ultraviolet light to cure the ink as it’s printed, meaning the prints dry instantly. The result is crisp, vivid images that pop with detail, clarity, and color, no matter the material. With my UV printer, I’m able to print on a wide range of surfaces: things I never imagined were possible before! I’ve been experimenting further with wood, acrylic, tile, canvas, and even some unusual objects like stones and baseballs. The textures and natural variations in stones, for example, create a striking contrast to the sharpness of the UV-printed images. It’s something truly unique that I’m excited to explore more. Each material adds its own unique texture and feel to the finished product, giving me endless creative freedom to bring designs to life in unexpected ways.

As much as I’m enjoying the new creative freedom this UV printer offers, it’s also been a learning process, especially when it comes to integrating it with my laser engraver. It’s a bit of a dance integrating the two machines, ensuring that the laser aligns perfectly with the printed design for the flawless finish that I strive for. I’ve been experimenting with different methods to get that precision down, from adjusting the alignment settings on the laser engraver to tweaking the designs themselves before printing. While it’s a bit of a learning curve, it’s also incredibly rewarding to see the final result come together. There’s something truly satisfying about seeing a perfectly cut and printed design!

As with anything new, I know I’ll only get better at it with time and practice! I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what it can do. I’m thrilled to continue experimenting with new materials and designs, and I can’t wait to share more of these creations with all of you. Stay tuned, because I have a feeling this is just the beginning of something really special and there will be so many new items and types of custom and holiday-themed decor being added to the shop in the coming weeks!
